Tracy,

I just wanted to give a heart felt thank you for your kind and thoughtful comment. Even though I do not personally know you, I know you are a great and successful man, not only financially, but in life. Once again, thank you!

Merch, Match, and Mitch - a nice sounding combination of words. Merch stands for merchandise, as in move it - the foundation and key ingredient of free-entereprise capitalism that has made countries and economies in the United States, Japan, China and elsewhere into powerhouse producers of wealth and opportunity.

Match stands for making the connection or fulfilling the interaction between buyer and seller. In another use it could mean the device used to start a fire. Fire and the wheel are condsidered to be two of the greatest inventions of all time. Imagine Benjamin Franklin discovering the power and use of electricity by flying a kite when lightning is striking in the sky, and Isaac Newton discovering the concept of gravity by watching an apple fall from a tree and asking why? Today with the powerful tools of technology and networking, discoveries and connections can be made at warp speed with immediate and global results. It's like the difference between horse and buggy transportation and modern air travel - contrast the Wright Brothers launch at Kitty Hawk with a modern space launch at Cape Canaveral, and you begin to see the difference in scientific and technological evolution.

Mitch is a young man I met near San Diego a few years ago, and we were able to work together briefly before he was sent to Spain. There he took the basics of what we began here and successfully applied there. Now he is back home in Utah, and eager to apply the same enthusiasm and excitement in future endeavors. You may not be able to teach an old dog new tricks, but you can sure teach a young one plenty - especially when he is eager and hungry to learn and apply what is taught. That is Mitch.

As a former kindergarten teacher I have to put some Dr. Seuss semantics and rhyme into the mix, and this is what I get:

Merch rhymes with perch, and search. The first suggests an eagle with superior vision, and the second a computer conducting the desired search for connections in the electronic brain of the internet.

Match rhymes with attach, batch, catch, hatch, natch, satch, and watch. Attach, as in connecting the pieces of the puzzle. Batch, as in the more the better. Catch, as in the opportunity. Hatch, as in the genius of an idea and creative energy. Natch, as in after the fact things that are new or novel appear obvious or normal after someone has discovered and applied them. Satch, as in saturate or market penetration. And watch, as in the improper pronunciation of the word used to observe. R2A2 is what Clement Stone called it, which stands for recognize, relate, assimilate and apply.

Mitch rhymes with hitch, niche, pitch, rich, switch, and which. Hitch, as in hitch your wagon to a star, or hitching the biggest trailer to your rig to haul the rewards to the warehouse. Niche, as in the hidden piece of the planet you want to claim for yourself and make a mark or statement in the world (think of the concept of Manifest Destiny in this regard - Nike did it with a $9 swish logo and some waffle running shoes). Pitch, as in the ball is in play, so be in the batter's box with skill and a bat to put it where you want it to go. Rich, as in the reward for thinking outside the box and traveling outside the herd of humanity. Switch, as in turn it on - light up the room, and make a difference with your presence, purpose, and participation. Which, as in which would I rather be - successful and rich, or mediocre and miserable? The choice is always ours to make, and the outcome is defined only by our thoughts and actions.

When you guys become the next Google, please continue to be frugal. Nobody needs a Bently when most are living less than gently. Or a Rolls Royce, when many live in poverty, and not by choice. Jon Huntsman and Jesus are the ultimate models of humility and concern. May you use your wealth to carry in stealth, and bless others with health.
